Soup Squad is back!

Starting this Saturday, October 1st, we are changing from Sandwich Squad back to Soup Squad for the colder months.

Soup Squad is a special offering that Free Fridge Salem provides to our neighbors. We believe that something really magical happens when you hand something that's hot and cozy to a neighbor with the intent to warm them from the inside out.

This is the second year that we have been doing Soup Squad and we are still going to be in the same parks - Wallace Marine Park (first lot) on Mondays and Marion Square Park (Commercial Side) from 3-5pm.

Two volunteer opportunities that we have for Soup Squad are Soup Maker and Server. To be a soup maker, you need to have a current food handler's card and be willing to make a pot of deliciousness for our neighbors. This could be soup, pasta, casseroles, hot dishes, and really anything that may offer some comfort in the cold months.

To be a server, you also have to have a food handler's card but if you do not have one, you can still sign up to be a server and the point person will give you something else to do like put out period packs, cold weather supplies and harm reduction.

We are still using the sign up website to coordinate our volunteers and if you're having problems using it, please reach out to us via email, freefridgesalem@gmail.com for assistance.

You can visit our sign up website without having to sign up to see what's available. Please use the following link to access our sign up website: Soup Squad sign up link If you're having issues accessing the link to our sign up website, please send us an email.

Thanks for taking care of one another.
