Thanks, neighbors.
This was the second heat wave that we have put out cooling stations this summer for our neighbors, and once again folks in this community rose to the occasion and busted their butts to take care of one another.
This past week was a doozy all around and we are so thankful for the folks that do well under pressure. Cooling station support isn't for everyone and we are really thankful for the folks that do well with providing this sort of aid.
Not only do we want to say thank you to each of you that helped, we also want to share with you some of the things we heard from our neighbors that used the cooling stations this past week.
"You are saving lives."
"Thank you for all that you guys are doing."
"This is AMAZING!"
"I love free fridge."
"You are all heroes!"
"THANK YOU!"
"Thank you for not forgetting about us."
While we were at Sandwich Squad this past Saturday, a neighbor that we know well was giving us a lot of gratitude about our offerings at Sandwich Squad. He wanted us to know that he really appreciates us and that we show up each week. He loves the smiles, the laughter, the music and all the people.
He also told us about the cooling stations. He remarked about how amazing they were and that it's been so hot that it's hard to even think about something like water. He told me and Jennifer about several cooling station locations and that there was water and other things to drink.
He said, "You are good people."
We totally agree.
